What are Emo kids? Emo kids are all the rage these days, you can see them at the mall, on the streets and in the nightclubs. For the most part they do not refer to themselves as "emo", but like to think of themselves as indie, or punk, or scene or alternative or goth. Emo is more a term used by those outside alternative culture, so how do you spot an emo kid? Usually heavy eye makeup, usually darker colours (but not always), big emo hair, short indie hair, striped clothes, but these days emo is a very broad idea. Essiently emo is open to interpretation, although it is true as the word emo derives from emotional, that most emo girls are sad or depressed or just prone to heavy emotion. Also true is that emos tend to be younger, there are so many emo teens! If you talk to an emo girl, don't call her emo, if you must call her any category, indie is a nicer term.
